Install

  1. Open the downloaded zip. Drag Message Vault into your Applications folder. It must live in Applications, not Downloads or the Desktop, or macOS will forget the permission below every time it moves.
  2. Open Message Vault from Applications.
  3. Grant Full Disk Access when asked: open System Settings, then Privacy & Security, then Full Disk Access, and turn on Message Vault. This is what lets the app read your Messages database. It is read-only; the app never writes to it.
  4. Choose where your vault should live, then press Scan now.

After you subscribe

Open Settings, then the License tab, paste your key, and press Activate. The key is verified on your Mac. It renews itself while the subscription is active; the only thing sent is the key’s id.
